Alluring traps

Display Description

Carnivorous plants acquired a fearsome reputation, largely thanks to “Audrey” the man-eating plant in the 1960s film Little Shop of Horrors. The truth is that these beautiful plants are only able to digest insects and other small animals to obtain additional nutrients. The pitchers of pitcher plants are preserved by drying these three-dimensional parts. Much of the colour is lost, but you can use the gallery web to compare the morphology of herbarium specimens with photos of the living plant.
